9/11 – We all grieve

I was reading a very popular mommy blogger and she posted a link to a speech Vice president Joe Biden gave today in honour and remembrance of the 9/11 tragedies.

Unbeknownst to me, Joe Biden’s wife and one year old daughter died in a car accident just after he was elected to the senate.

A transcript of that speech is available here:

I love the importance he emphasizes in remembering…remembering them all, that grief is grief, no matter why or who.

********
For no matter how many anniversaries you experience, for at least an instant, the terror of that moment returns; the lingering echo of that phone call; that sense of total disbelief that envelops you, where you feel like you’re being sucked into a black hole in the middle of your chest ********

And while the world grieves the anniversary of such an inexplicable horror, we are one short month away from Xavier’s two year birthday and subsequent deathday. One anniversary slides right into the next…sadly we all grieve but it is so important to remember. I will always remember.

  1. Thanks for sharing that… I knew the story of Biden’s first family, and I have read stories of other time he has spoken to grieving families (soldiers’ families, I think?). Say what you will about his politics, I admire him for speaking out on these subjects so openly.
